This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish the strategic technical direction for the product team.
• Advocate for and promote the organization’s architectural vision, strategy, and principles within the team.
• Engage in forums to evolve and enhance the technical vision.
• Collaborate with Developers, Engineering Managers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Test Engineers, Product Managers, Business Owners, and product stakeholders to drive customer outcomes.
• Oversee technical governance of a highly prominent product team.
• Create proofs of concept and experiments based on team requirements.
• Enhance deployment processes, team velocity, and delivery quality across various specialties.
• Manage risks and escalated priorities, resolving issues that impact production stability.
• Elevate team members and serve as a force multiplier.
• Mentor, coach, and empower technical team members while developing intricate technical solutions.
• Establish and uphold standards for code quality, performance, and observability.
• Share insights and knowledge with other Staff Software Engineers.
• Conduct interviews for new hires and evaluate team members’ technical skills.
• Lead quarterly and multi-quarter initiatives focused on stability, scalability, and compliance.
• Modernize Time Management applications and transition them out of the monolith.
• Document complex configurations and identify edge cases earlier in the development process.
• Minimize production issues and data inconsistencies through root-cause analysis and lasting solutions.
• Identify and proactively manage technical risks in critical calculation paths.
• Gradually modernize legacy logic and address technical debt without disrupting time accuracy, customer trust, or operational stability.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a technology-related field, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design.
• Proficiency in multiple .NET Frameworks, including .NET Core.
• Extensive experience with C#.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases, specifically MongoDB/PostgreSQL.
• Experience with SQL Server.
• Profiling experience in high-transaction, large-dataset environments.
• Expertise in designing, evolving, and managing high-usage domain APIs.
• Experience in setting architectural standards and ensuring API reliability and backward compatibility.
• Proven ability to drive API quality, observability, and operational excellence for multiple internal consumer teams.
• Significant experience in building and scaling complex front-end applications.
• Ability to architect maintainable UI systems and collaborate across teams.
• React expertise is preferred, with experience in Redux or similar state-management solutions highly valued.
• Knowledge of software architecture patterns and developer tools.
• Experience in mentoring, coaching, and conducting code reviews.
• Broad technical skills, learning agility, and intellectual curiosity.
• Ability to work effectively in an agile environment.
• Proven track record of solving complex, scalable architectural challenges.
• Experience in incrementally modernizing technical debt.
• Capability to sit for extended periods, typically 7–8 hours per day.
• Ability to operate computers and phone systems, type, and utilize multiple software programs simultaneously.
• Nice to have: experience with worked-time data systems, message brokers such as RabbitMQ, and containerization technologies such as Docker.
