This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +4 more states.
• Take ownership of significant product components and workstreams throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial discovery and planning to production release and ongoing enhancements.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, sales, and other stakeholders to gather, clarify, and understand both business and technical requirements.
• Convert vague and broad product objectives into detailed technical plans, milestones, and actionable engineering tasks.
• Design scalable system architecture and make pivotal technical decisions for high-impact areas of the product.
• Develop, review, and sustain production-grade components end-to-end, ensuring reliability, security, performance, maintainability, and extensibility.
• Assume responsibility for the components delivered in production and their ongoing operation and evolution.
• Independently monitor progress and proactively communicate results, blockers, risks, dependencies, and evolving requirements.
• Investigate relevant technologies, tools, market strategies, and competitor solutions as needed.
• Enhance engineering quality through design reviews, technical mentorship, guidance, and best practices.
• Demonstrated experience managing major projects or workstreams from start to finish.
• Strong backend engineering expertise in Python.
• Proficient in reading and reviewing code written in C language.
• Solid hands-on experience with Linux.
• Excellent system design and architectural thinking, with a capability to implement solutions practically.
• Experience in gathering and refining requirements, transforming broad or unclear needs into technical plans, milestones, and deliverables.
• Strong technical product ownership and a solid understanding of how engineering decisions align with broader product and business objectives.
• Ability to work autonomously without close daily supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence in collaborating with engineering, product, sales, and other departments.
• Ability to clearly articulate technical decisions, progress, risks, and blockers.
• Regular utilization of AI-assisted development tools for planning, implementation, debugging, testing, refactoring, or code review.
• Capability to balance immediate delivery with long-term scalability, maintainability, and extensibility.
• Nice to have: experience in writing Linux kernel patches or kernel modules.
