Staff Engineer, DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the achievement of one or more projects or products while fostering positive outcomes.

• Define, estimate, design, and deliver medium-to-large features.

• Minimize technical debt across various projects or products.

• Work collaboratively with teammates, external teams, and client stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

• Create test plans, test cases, and relevant testing documentation.

• Monitor, prioritize, and resolve software defects utilizing bug-tracking tools.

• Set quality standards, best practices, and software quality metrics.

• Automate testing processes to enhance coverage, speed, and accuracy for CI/CD pipelines.

• Assess and recommend QA tools, frameworks, and techniques.

• Ensure testing adheres to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

• Conduct performance and security testing.

• Implement and sustain CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies, and Infrastructure as Code tools, following DevSecOps principles.

• Deploy and manage microservices and APIs on AWS.

• Develop tools for monitoring, logging, and performance optimization to enhance observability and resilience.

• Engage in security reviews, risk assessments, and vulnerability management.

• Uphold AWS security, compliance, and governance policies.

• Oversee microservices architecture and orchestration using container technologies.

• Diagnose and resolve system issues and outages in collaboration with software development teams.

• Ensure application availability, performance, security, and scalability.

• Apply system hardening and configuration management best practices.

• Participate in on-call rotations.

• Document processes and monitor system logs and activities.

• Develop, test, and maintain both frontend and backend software applications.

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to articulate and refine requirements.

• Engage in architecture and design discussions and guide technology selection.

• Write maintainable code and conduct code and design reviews.

• Debug and resolve software defects.

• Maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, API specifications, and user manuals.

• Mentor and support junior engineers.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

• Assist with the estimation, prioritization, and planning of development tasks.

• Engage in professional development and share knowledge with the team.


⛳️ Requirements

• US Citizenship or Green Card required; Bellese does not provide sponsorship.

• Must have resided in the US for at least the last 3 years.

• Must meet the qualifications to hold a Public Trust position, including successful completion of a US Government background investigation.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and/or x+ years of experience in DevOps, system administration, or a similar role.

• Proficient in Git.

• Skilled with CI/CD tools, including Jenkins and Github Actions.

• Experience with AWS cloud services, such as ECS, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, and AWS CLI.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

• Strong knowledge of Docker and Amazon ECS.

• Solid understanding of networking, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and other infrastructure components.

• Proficient in at least one scripting language; Bash/zsh is preferred.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

• Previous software development experience with JS/TS, Java, Go, or Python is advantageous.

• Associate or Professional AWS certifications are a bonus.

• Experience with CloudWatch and New Relic is a plus.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB is an advantage.
