Staff Engineer, Composer Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Define and spearhead the technical strategy, architecture, and modernization projects for the Composer platform.

• Drive efforts to decouple and migrate from legacy application dependencies while ensuring the stability of the platform.

• Enhance the reliability, scalability, observability, and operational resilience of the platform.

• Establish engineering standards pertaining to instrumentation, monitoring, alerting, and system performance.

• Oversee architecture review processes and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on technical decisions.

• Support distributed systems and environments that utilize containerized applications.

• Offer technical mentorship and guidance through code reviews, design input, and engineering best practices.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to facilitate codebase navigation, modernization, and the evolution of the platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of experience as a Staff Engineer or in a senior-level individual contributor role supporting large-scale production platforms.

• Extensive experience with Ruby/Rails or similar backend application frameworks.

• Proven track record in leading modernization, migration, or architectural decoupling initiatives.

• Strong comprehension of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and principles of application resiliency.

• Experience with observability tools, monitoring frameworks, and alerting strategies.

• Familiarity with supporting containerized applications and scalable production environments.

• Excellent communication, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

• Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, Codex, or comparable technologies.
