Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take charge of significant product components and workstreams throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial discovery and planning to production release and ongoing enhancements.

• Collaborate directly with engineering, product, sales, and other stakeholders to comprehend, gather, and clarify both business and technical requirements.

• Convert broad product objectives into technical plans, milestones, and actionable engineering tasks.

• Design scalable system architectures and make crucial technical decisions for high-impact product areas.

• Construct, review, and sustain production-grade components end-to-end, ensuring reliability, security, performance, maintainability, and extensibility.

• Assume responsibility for delivered components in production and their ongoing operation and development.

• Monitor progress independently and proactively communicate results, blockers, risks, dependencies, and evolving requirements.

• Investigate relevant technologies, tools, market strategies, and competitor solutions as necessary.

• Enhance engineering quality through design reviews, technical guidance, mentorship, and best practices.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools as part of the standard engineering workflow for planning, implementation, debugging, testing, refactoring, automation, and code review.

• Work on KernelCare and/or SecureChain, TuxCare products providing Linux and open-source security solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience owning major projects, products, systems, or workstreams from start to finish.

• Extensive hands-on coding proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, Rust, etc.

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux and confidence in managing Linux-based production environments.

• Robust system design and architectural thinking paired with the capability to implement proposed solutions practically.

• Proven experience in constructing substantial systems or features and guiding them through production release.

• Experience in gathering and refining requirements and transforming broad needs into technical plans, milestones, and deliverables.

• Strong technical product ownership with an understanding of how engineering decisions align with broader product and business objectives.

• Ability to work independently without close day-to-day supervision.

• Excellent communication skills and confidence in engaging directly with engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Capacity to clearly articulate technical decisions, trade-offs, progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers.

• Regular engagement with AI-assisted development tools for planning, implementation, debugging, testing, refactoring, automation, or code review.

• Ability to balance immediate delivery with long-term scalability, reliability, maintainability, and extensibility.

• Curiosity, adaptability, and a keen interest in cybersecurity and complex technical challenges.

• Advanced written and spoken English proficiency.

• Nice to have: Experience with CVEs, vulnerability management, or security-related engineering workflows.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with commercial processes and how technical decisions can bolster product and business objectives.
