Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.

📋 Description

• Oversee initiatives that significantly impact the entire platform — encompassing architecture, infrastructure, and AI-driven engineering methodologies.

• Establish the technical direction for our product offerings, platform, and infrastructure.

• Manage intricate, cross-functional projects that involve various systems and teams.

• Lead architectural choices and substantial technology investments.

• Take ownership and enhance our AWS and Terraform environments, prioritizing reliability, security, observability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Assist in defining the utilization of AI coding agents, prompts, evaluations, and review processes within the engineering team.

• Set benchmarks for engineering excellence across the team, providing technical leadership that Senior Engineers rely on for guidance while mentoring and nurturing engineers at all levels.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Customer Success, and Leadership to align customer requirements, business objectives, and technical realities.

• Engage with the most challenging incidents, bugs, and technical hurdles when the team requires an experienced hand.

• Participate in our engineering support rotation and apply insights gained to enhance the platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in building and delivering software within SaaS environments.

• Proven experience operating at Senior, Lead, Principal, or Staff Engineer levels.

• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET, Web APIs, MongoDB, and React/TypeScript.

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform.

• A history of making architectural decisions in established production systems.

• Experience utilizing AI tools, coding agents, prompts, evaluations, or similar workflows in practical software development scenarios.

• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of how technical choices influence business results.

• Exceptional communication abilities and the capacity to influence across engineering, product, and leadership teams.

• A collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to enhance the effectiveness of those around you.
