This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Organize, execute, and oversee Agile software development tasks, emphasizing the upkeep and support of NCEI’s enterprise archiving systems.
• Utilize appropriate standards, practices, procedures, and tools throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Oversee the lifecycle of change requests, implementing changes across various environments.
• Ensure compliance with software standards.
• Rectify program errors, generate operating instructions, compile documentation related to program development, and evaluate system capabilities to address inquiries regarding program intent, output requirements, input data gathering, programming techniques, and controls.
• 4-6 years of experience in a relevant field.
• 2+ years of experience with Linux.
• Proficient in one or more contemporary programming languages such as Python, R, Scala, C++, Java, C#, and JavaScript.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a comprehensive understanding of the relationships between hardware and applications.
• Strong communication skills to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders or team members.
• Professional demeanor, robust work ethic, and a proven capacity to follow through on outstanding issues while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Team-oriented, responsive, and self-directed.
• Proven experience in front-end development utilizing React, Angular, or other JavaScript frameworks.
• Solid understanding of RESTful architecture, API design principles, and data formats (JSON, XML).
• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.
• Practical experience with data flow and pipeline frameworks like Kafka, NiFi, Spark, and RabbitMQ.
