This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Assist in the design, development, testing, and upkeep of full stack web applications spanning the front end, back end, and database layers.
• Engage in the entire software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support) with guidance from senior engineers.
• Create and utilize RESTful APIs to facilitate integration between applications and enterprise systems under supervision.
• Work alongside infrastructure and application teams to deploy and maintain applications on AWS.
• Develop application features that interact with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL/Aurora) and integrate with AWS services (like S3, Secrets Manager, SSM) following established team practices.
• Monitor and resolve application and integration issues in both development and production environments; document root causes and remediation actions.
• Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates for infrastructure, application, and database changes, which are promoted through CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide support for CI/CD pipelines (like Jenkins) by updating build steps, reviewing logs, and assisting in the resolution of deployment failures.
• Adhere to CMS security, privacy, and DevSecOps standards by implementing secure coding practices and completing necessary documentation and reviews.
• Address operational issues using standard monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Splunk) and escalate as needed.
• Aid in resolving security vulnerabilities by applying patches/updates to application dependencies and providing support for infrastructure with guidance.
• U.S. citizen or authorized to work, having lived in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years.
• Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and pass a government Public Trust background check.
• Requires a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree with at least two (2) years of experience.
• Four (4) years of specialized experience may replace the need for a Bachelor’s degree.
• Advanced certifications can be utilized as a substitute for experience.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python is essential.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, including secure development, access controls, and auditability, is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working collaboratively with analytics, application, and platform teams in an Agile environment.
• Previous experience with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services or other government agencies is advantageous.
