This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take ownership of essential exchange backend systems. Assume full responsibility for the systems that facilitate order matching, position management, and order state for perpetual futures.
• Develop and enhance the matching engine. Analyze key performance paths, minimize lock contention, and implement improvements to latency and throughput supported by benchmarks and production-quality data.
• Design systems for correctness at scale. Create queueing and backpressure mechanisms that ensure the order book remains consistent and reliable under high load, avoiding cross-book trading, ghost fills, or outdated order states.
• Focus on observability. Equip systems with metrics, logs, and traces. Establish rollback guarantees and streamline critical paths to expedite the detection, diagnosis, and resolution of production incidents.
• Enhance runtime performance. Fine-tune CPU, memory, and allocation behaviors to fulfill the requirements of a high-throughput exchange in a live environment.
• Manage production incidents from start to finish. Directly debug latency and correctness issues, ensuring continuous improvement that enhances the system's performance with each resolution.
• Extensive senior backend engineering experience with a solid foundation in order-book-based exchange systems.
• Profound understanding of low-latency systems, including concurrency, lock contention, asynchronous correctness, and performance profiling.
• Familiarity with matching engines, order state management, or comparable exchange infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Rust or a strong eagerness to learn it — enthusiasm for the language is a positive trait, while reluctance is a concern.
• Strong fundamentals in observability: metrics, logs, distributed traces, and profiling tools.
• Solid grounding in computer science principles: algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
• (Plus) Experience with high-frequency or low-latency trading infrastructure.
• (Plus) Knowledge of Redis, PostgreSQL, gRPC, and Protobuf.
• (Plus) Experience with Kubernetes and AWS in production operations.
• Competitive salary & equity.
• Unlimited paid time off (PTO).
• Comprehensive Health, Vision, & Dental coverage.
• 401k matching program.
• Hardware setup includes a new MacBook Pro, large display, & accessories.
