Staff DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Create sustainable infrastructure, microservice solutions, and robust production environments alongside Engineering teams.

• Automate tools and infrastructure to minimize manual tasks.

• Monitor applications and engage in an on-call rotation when necessary.

• Take ownership of the design and specification of infrastructure projects.

• Decompose infrastructure projects into actionable tasks.

• Lead initiatives that involve multiple engineering teams.

• Utilize AI assistants while maintaining full comprehension and accountability for deployed changes.

• Operate and sustain Bloomreach Engagement core infrastructure on Google Cloud.

• Manage Kubernetes, databases, and components of Google Cloud.

• Provide support to developers and assess design proposals.

• Validate the performance and availability of applications.

• Develop essential application components such as logging or authorization as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of production experience.

• Production experience with Kubernetes and the capability to manage 24x7 production clusters.

• Familiarity with GCP, AWS, or Azure; GCP is preferred.

• Understanding of the risks and benefits associated with public cloud.

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code principles.

• Ability to select between cloud-managed and self-hosted solutions.

• Proficiency in reading and understanding Python or Go code.

• Capability to review and assess AI-generated Python code for accuracy, security, and suitability.

• Skill in developing custom tools when necessary.

• Ability to transform loosely defined challenges into designs and specifications.

• Experience in leading projects that span multiple teams.

• Capacity to independently deliver maintenance or project tasks.

• Active involvement with Kubernetes and related technologies.

• Participation in DevOps-related conferences.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes security and configuration, including security contexts, network policies, roles and role bindings, pod affinity, host paths, pod disruption budgets, priority classes, and node taints.

• Experience in optimizing resource requests/limits, HPAs, or VPAs.

• Profound understanding of managed Kubernetes clusters and node pools.

• Experience upgrading Kubernetes clusters without disrupting live applications.

• Experience in writing Terraform modules with multiple interconnected resources.

• Experience in establishing monitoring systems and alerts.

• On-duty experience, with a preference for Grafana and Prometheus experience.

• Familiarity with DevOps, orchestration/configuration management, and CI technologies such as Terraform, GitLab, Ansible, and Docker.

• Experience in onboarding and mentoring new team members.
