This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Take ownership of the complete design system, including the component library, React codebase, interaction patterns, tokens, and documentation.
β’ Write, deploy, and sustain production-level React code, ensuring strong code hygiene, testing methodologies, and a clear architectural framework.
β’ Establish the interaction and visual design language for Cherry's component library, setting the standards for every interface.
β’ Integrate quality standards directly into the system, creating components, tokens, and guidelines that facilitate optimal decision-making.
β’ Collaborate with AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex) to incorporate design rules into development processes, providing quality guidance at the moment of decision-making.
β’ Work alongside Cherry's AI Enablement team to develop internal tools that broaden the design system's impact.
β’ Closely partner with our front-end engineering team in Turkey for component architecture, implementation, and code review.
β’ Act as the primary design system partner for the product design team, guiding their usage and fostering confident contributions.
β’ Collaborate with the wider engineering organization to ensure components are easily adoptable, well-documented, and production-ready.
β’ Lead the strategy for the evolution of Cherry's design system as AI becomes integrated into the workflows of designers and engineers.
β’ Define the roadmap for component and pattern evolution, as well as processes, with a vision for what design systems will look like in the next 2-3 years.
β’ Advocate for the long-term sustainability of the system, balancing team demands with architectural integrity.
β’ 5-8+ years of experience in both product design and front-end engineering, showcasing expertise in both areas.
β’ In-depth knowledge of React, with strong perspectives on component architecture, testing, and code quality.
β’ Expert proficiency in design tools, including component design, variants, tokens, and management of design systems.
β’ A keen eye for visual and interaction design elements such as spacing, motion, hierarchy, and the finer details that distinguish polished work from nearly polished work.
β’ Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.
β’ Experience in developing and maintaining a design system utilized by multiple teams in a production environment.
β’ Strong communication skills across disciplines, ensuring fluency with designers, engineers, and product leaders alike.
