This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create comprehensive mechanical designs for intricate systems and components for the Scorpius Accelerator Program at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
• Revise current mechanical designs, models, drawings, and assemblies utilizing Creo.
• Work in collaboration with engineers, designers, technicians, and manufacturing staff to implement design modifications and address technical challenges.
• Manage engineering documentation, revisions, and finalized designs within Windchill.
• Utilize GD&T principles to convey design intent and manufacturing specifications.
• Assess design modifications for manufacturability, assembly, and system integration.
• Relay engineering updates and design changes to cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Assist with configuration management, engineering change requests, and engineering change orders.
• Engage in design reviews, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Aid in troubleshooting, prototype updates, and design alterations during the fabrication and assembly processes.
• Adhere to pressure safety and ASME B31.3 design standards when applicable.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proficient in using Creo for mechanical design.
• Familiarity with Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is essential.
• Experience in applying GD&T in engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
• Capability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering setting.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• Experience with Department of Energy or National Laboratory projects is preferred.
• Understanding of ASME B31.3 Process Piping or pressure safety standards is desirable.
• Background in supporting prototype development, fabrication, or advanced manufacturing is advantageous.
• Familiarity with engineering configuration management procedures is a plus.
