Staff Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take complete ownership of product features: Manage the entire process from problem identification, through experience design, to front-end coding and deployment to users.

• Code prototyping: Transform static mockups into functional prototypes to rapidly validate concepts and mitigate risks using real customer insights.

• Foster design-led development: Operate in a fixed-time, variable-scope environment, prioritizing outcomes over outputs while collaborating closely with backend and core engineering teams to make a significant impact.

• Rapid delivery without compromising quality: Strike a balance between speed and craftsmanship by delivering refined, production-ready experiences under tight deadlines, ensuring meticulous attention to detail in both design and code.

• Advance UI architecture: Enhance our design system and component libraries to ensure seamless synchronization between design and code across mobile and web platforms.

• Amplify team effectiveness: Elevate the overall performance of the design team by assisting designers in coding and integrating AI tools into their processes, thereby enhancing speed, autonomy, and technical proficiency throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated hybrid expertise: You have successfully launched real products where you were responsible for both design and code execution (e.g., React, Typescript, Node, Vue.js, etc.).

• A portfolio of builders: You can showcase live products—not merely mockups—where you have both designed and developed the user experience. You likely incorporate AI tools to prototype, iterate, and enhance your workflow.

• Strong sense of product quality: You possess a keen eye for excellence and understand what makes an experience feel intuitive, swift, and enjoyable.

• Comprehensive technical insight: You are aware of the limitations and potentials of modern front-end development, designing solutions that are efficient, scalable, and maintainable.

• A proactive builder mentality: You take initiative, defining problems, making decisions, and driving tasks to completion with minimal supervision.

• Exceptional communication abilities: You can clearly articulate design choices and technical trade-offs to both design and engineering teams.
