Principal Systems/Mechanical Design Engineer, Semiconductor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Analyze, enhance, and define subsystem architectures that have a direct impact on system performance, throughput, and reliability.

• Lead the design and integration of intricate subsystems utilized in advanced semiconductor capital equipment.

• Develop mechanical, thermal, fluid, and structural solutions that enhance system performance and reliability.

• Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle.

• Create detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for weldments, sheet metal, machined components, and assemblies.

• Conduct structural, thermal, dynamic, and vacuum-related analyses utilizing advanced FEA tools.

• Establish strategies for subsystem validation and verification plans.

• Facilitate cross-functional design reviews and lead subsystem integration, optimization, and design validation efforts.

• Assist with NPI, RFQ processes, qualification testing, and component lifecycle management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, systems, or a related engineering discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in semiconductor capital equipment or wafer fabrication, as well as in advanced packaging environments.

• Proficient in mechanical design, precision systems engineering, mechatronics, power systems, and fluid/vacuum systems.

• Skilled in FEA, CAD, and structural/thermal analysis tools.

• Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

• Proven capability to lead reviews, mentor teams, and engage with customers effectively.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
