Staff Data Scientist – Experimentation & Measurement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and analyze A/B tests and quasi-experiments, utilizing advanced causal inference methods when experimentation is not an option.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, marketing) to integrate experimentation into development and iteration cycles, and share results with the company's senior leadership.

• Mentor and coach other Data Scientists, offering thought leadership and technical guidance.

• Act as a thought leader on best practices for hypothesis formulation, metric selection, test design, and communicating results.

• Assist in defining and contributing to centralized experimentation frameworks, tools, and documentation to promote best practices throughout the organization.

• Independently extract, transform, and analyze data from complex systems using SQL, Python, and various analytics tools.

• Clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating informed business decisions with precision and clarity.

• Remain up-to-date on emerging methodologies in experimentation and causal analysis, introducing new perspectives to the team's efforts.

• Your insights will have a direct impact on how PlayStation develops, markets, and enhances products across our ecosystem.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• Over 6 years of experience in a data science role focused on experimentation or causal inference (4+ years with a PhD).

• Extensive expertise in A/B testing and causal inference, including quasi-experimental techniques.

• Proficient in SQL and Python for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

• Broad practical knowledge of statistical methods.

• Experience with machine learning modeling is advantageous.

• Demonstrated ability to influence product and business decisions through clear, actionable insights.

• Experience in contributing to or developing experimentation frameworks, best practices, or internal tools.
