This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Assist in the design, development, testing, and rollout of AI-driven products for content generation, education, training, simulations, and decision-making support.
• Work alongside developers, instructional designers, simulation experts, and subject matter authorities under the guidance of the AI and Simulation Program Manager.
• Aid in the creation of Generative AI and Large Language Model applications, which includes prompt engineering and Retrieval-Augmented Generation.
• Develop AI functionalities that convert source materials into courses, educational content, assessments, scenarios, case studies, and other digital resources.
• Contribute to the creation of AI-driven simulations and serious games, featuring dynamic scenarios, intelligent agents, participant analytics, and after-action reviews.
• Gather, clean, analyze, and visualize both structured and unstructured data.
• Create natural language processing solutions for tasks such as document summarization, semantic search, classification, information extraction, and question answering.
• Construct prototypes and integrate AI/ML models with applications using APIs and cloud technologies.
• Perform model testing and evaluation to assess performance, accuracy, reliability, bias, and hallucinations.
• Promote responsible AI practices, model documentation, data governance, and AI risk management.
• Develop, train, test, and assess machine learning and predictive models.
• Investigate emerging technologies including agentic AI, multimodal AI, synthetic data, digital twins, knowledge graphs, and adaptive learning.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-learn, PyTorch, and/or TensorFlow.
• Understanding of Generative AI concepts, LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, RAG, and/or Hugging Face.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, Git/GitHub, and fundamental application development.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis, data visualization, and predictive modeling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• A keen interest in emerging AI technologies and a desire to experiment and learn.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Preferred experience through academic projects, research, hackathons, personal initiatives, or internships related to machine learning, Generative AI, NLP, simulations, analytics, or AI application development.
• A GitHub portfolio or examples of AI/ML projects are highly encouraged.
• Experience or coursework in Python, SQL, Pandas, NumPy, and Jupyter Notebook.
• Exposure to OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, IBM watsonx, AWS/GCP AI services, LangChain, LlamaIndex, vector databases, FastAPI, Django, Flask, or Docker is advantageous.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer or Software Engineering, Information Systems, Operations Research, or a related quantitative or technical field.
