This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the comprehensive development and implementation of our tailored healthcare foundation models, converting high-level clinical use cases into specific deep learning architectures and training objectives.
• Define the technical roadmap for patient risk prediction and health trajectory modeling, spearheading the use of transformer-based architectures within the healthcare sector.
• Implement best practices for deep learning pipelines, encompassing self-supervised pre-training, fine-tuning strategies, and thorough evaluation of longitudinal healthcare data.
• Oversee the complete ML lifecycle—from data processing and research prototyping to production deployment—while guiding junior data scientists in contemporary engineering methodologies.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate medical domain knowledge into model architectures and partner with Engineering to ensure models are production-ready with high reliability and minimal latency.
• Explore innovative architectures and representation learning techniques to keep our platform at the cutting edge of AI-driven healthcare insights.
• Participate in research initiatives and represent Prealize Health’s technical capabilities within the wider machine learning and healthcare data science community.
• Education: PhD and/or MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Experience: 6–8+ years of experience (with a minimum of 4 years specifically focused on building and deploying ML systems in production) demonstrating a successful track record of technical leadership.
• Deep Learning Expertise: Proficiency in transformer architectures, attention mechanisms, and pre-training/fine-tuning strategies.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow is essential.
• Programming & AI Tooling: Advanced proficiency in Python and distributed computing (PySpark/Spark/SQL) for large-scale data processing.
• Skilled in utilizing AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) to expedite development cycles and improve code quality.
• Software Engineering Rigor: Strong competencies in software design patterns, testing frameworks, CI/CD, and code quality practices.
• Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to perform independent research and convert complex insights into production systems that address high-ambiguity challenges.
• Communication: Outstanding capability to convey intricate technical strategies and research outcomes to executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
