This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Oversee the architecture and design of intricate, large-scale distributed systems.
• Create, develop, and sustain scalable, fault-tolerant microservices for real-time and batch data processing.
• Construct and uphold high-performance REST APIs, emphasizing scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Design and execute data models and queries for effective storage and retrieval in SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Spearhead data quality initiatives to guarantee consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data across the platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to convert platform requirements into efficient technical solutions.
• Promote technical standards and best practices for code quality, testing, and observability throughout engineering teams.
• Mentor and offer technical support to engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and direct assistance.
• Assume full ownership of the software development lifecycle, encompassing deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, or a foreign equivalent.
• At least 10 years of industry experience focusing on backend and data engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and managing distributed data systems utilizing a microservices architecture, with a robust understanding of scalability, fault tolerance, performance, and observability best practices.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Proven history of writing high-quality, maintainable code across various services and teams.
• Strong leadership abilities to guide, mentor, and support engineers while nurturing a collaborative team culture.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Capacity to adapt to a fast-paced environment with evolving or unclear requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take charge of complex projects, and drive them to completion with minimal oversight.
• Proficiency in utilizing AI-powered tools and frameworks to enhance developer productivity, automate workflows, and optimize data-driven systems.
• Experience with AWS serverless technologies (e.g., SST, CDK, Terraform), NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB), and stream processing (e.g., Kinesis, DynamoDB Streams).
• Background in developing backend services using modern programming languages such as TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience in deploying and managing applications on public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
