This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the architecture and development of Blackpoint Cyber's enterprise data platform.
• Function as the technical lead for the Data Platform Team.
• Propel foundational initiatives across ingestion, storage, transformation, governance, observability, and cost optimization.
• Direct architectural choices concerning ingestion, modeling, storage, and orchestration.
• Design and manage pipelines for integrating survey data, MDR events and alerts, and Agent Business Intelligence data.
• Implement and take ownership of the Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
• Create a scalable Gold BI layer that supports analytics, reporting, and AI.
• Deliver multi-cloud integrations with Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Execute identity integrations using Auth0 and Okta.
• Enhance observability across pipelines, storage layers, and workflows through metrics, lineage, SLAs/SLOs, and alerting.
• Establish data lifecycle practices for retention, versioning, partitioning, GDPR compliance, backup, and archival.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, AI, and Security teams to ensure data availability, quality, and reliability.
• Mentor Senior Data Engineers and provide technical guidance for the Data Platform roadmap.
• Report directly to the Head of Data Platform.
• Support Blackpoint Cyber's cybersecurity mission and safeguard its expanding customer base.
• Over 10 years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering with distributed systems and modern data architecture.
• Demonstrated experience in leading complex data initiatives and mentoring senior engineers.
• Capability to design for scalability, resiliency, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Data-first, analytical mindset accompanied by strong problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills across engineering and leadership.
• AWS experience is required; familiarity with Azure/GCP is beneficial.
• Proficient in Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming.
• Experience with Spark, EMR, and Kubernetes-based compute.
• Proficiency in Python for data pipelines, ETL, and orchestration.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
• Knowledge of Iceberg and Parquet.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitFlow, and DevOps best practices.
• Understanding of data versioning, lifecycle management, quality checks, and governance.
• TypeScript knowledge is preferred.
• Go (Golang) experience is a significant plus.
• Experience with Trino/Presto, graph engines, or search systems is advantageous.
• Familiarity with BI semantic layers or medallion architectures is also a plus.
• Background in cybersecurity, SIEM, or event-driven systems is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies is a bonus.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada without restrictions.
