This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
β’ Establish the technical vision for the Payment Platform and Clearinghouse Platform teams.
β’ Collaborate with engineering leadership on key platform decisions for facilitating transactions between patients, providers, and payers.
β’ Oversee the creation of reliable, observable, and thoroughly reconciled integrations with Stripe, Plaid, and payer clearinghouses.
β’ Develop abstractions and standards for related engineering teams, such as Billing Infrastructure, Patient Billing, and Provider Payouts.
β’ Write code where the impact is maximized.
β’ Guide senior engineers across both teams.
β’ Foster operational excellence, reliability, efficiency, and accuracy within payment and claims systems.
β’ Tackle issues related to distributed systems, including concurrency, idempotency, and partial failures.
β’ Engage in both technical and non-technical interviews as part of the hiring process.
β’ Proven technical leadership in backend and distributed systems engineering.
β’ Capability to design fault-tolerant, observable, and thoroughly reconciled integrations.
β’ Experience with challenges surrounding concurrency, idempotency, and partial failures.
β’ Proficient in making technical decisions focused on maintainability and scalability.
β’ Expertise in transforming ambiguous challenges into deliverable software.
β’ Ability to mentor senior engineers and provide guidance through code reviews and design discussions.
β’ Quick to learn complex healthcare, payer, regulatory, and exception-driven domains.
β’ Clear and concise communication skills across Slack, design documents, and cross-team meetings.
β’ Experience utilizing LLMs for code generation, operational automation, or developer tools.
β’ Comfortable switching between backend and frontend contexts, including API architecture and frontend state management.
β’ Familiarity with TypeScript, Python 3, React, Remix, Next.js, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Postgres, Redis, Snowflake, AWS, Temporal, Kafka, Datadog, Sentry, PagerDuty, Cursor, Claude, Gemini, and Eddy.
β’ Must be located in the NYC, SF, or Seattle regions.
