Staff Backend Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define the technical strategy for systems that support advertising, marketing, and analytics requirements.

• Take ownership of one or more product domains and pinpoint technical challenges and opportunities.

• Craft team solutions and personally tackle the most complex components.

• Engage across the entire stack, from Python backend services to React and TypeScript user interfaces.

• Provide technical insight on issues without predefined solutions.

• Manage technical solutions, including scope, tradeoffs, quality standards, code reviews, and testing strategies.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in deployed work until results are validated.

• Offer advice on feasibility, costs, risks, architecture, shared systems, engineering standards, and recruitment.

• Create technical scopes, prototypes, functional software, reusable standards, and plans for upgrades or migrations.

• Mentor engineers and facilitate their progression to more significant roles.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in developing software that operates in production environments.

• Proficient in backend development.

• Familiarity with Python, Flask-style APIs, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, or a comparable technology stack.

• Experience in defining and delivering distributed systems utilizing queues, caches, and search functionalities.

• Proven experience deploying software on AWS and Kubernetes at a production level.

• Skilled in scoping solutions successfully completed by other developers.

• Experience in mentoring engineers to help them progress to higher roles.

• Strong technical writing abilities.

• Experience in constructing and enhancing CI/CD pipelines.

• Awareness of security considerations in scoped solutions.

• Candidates must reside in the U.S.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.

• Must be situated within Eastern or Central U.S. time zones.

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor should be noted in the application.
