Staff Backend Engineer, User Safety

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate across various functions, including product, data science, operations, and engineering, to implement a product and business strategy that ensures Reddit's safety.

• Engage in the entire development cycle, from ideation and technical design to development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.

• Evaluate code and design documentation while contributing to the shaping of the roadmap.

• Lead a team of engineers effectively.

• Establish and define standards to enhance developer workflows and recommend best practices.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to engineers to aid in their professional growth.

• Innovate new solutions and strive for continuous improvement in both technical and non-technical skills.

• Drive the technical and product strategy, operations, architecture, and implementation for a significant online platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or Ruby.

• A BS degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong organizational abilities, with a talent for prioritizing tasks and keeping projects on track.

• An entrepreneurial mindset; self-motivated, innovative, and proactive in fast-paced settings.

• Proven experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a fully remote environment.

• Proficient in discussing complex subjects with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience applying machine learning for product or business solutions is an advantage.
