Staff Backend Engineer – Infrastructure Access

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the Teleport Core Product as a systems engineer with a focus on product development.

• Tackle challenges related to performance, scalability, security, networking, and integration with external systems.

• Engage throughout the entire product lifecycle, encompassing customer discovery, drafting RFDs, implementation, testing, and documentation.

• Develop expertise in Teleport's scalability, performance, and reliability for large-scale deployments.

• Design, create, and deliver high-quality products.

• Primarily write code in Go.

• Create secure, passwordless infrastructure access utilizing short-lived credentials at a large customer scale.

• Enhance observability, tracing, and failure management for debugging access-layer issues at scale.

• Advance your technical knowledge.

• Lead a geographically distributed team of engineers.

• Participate in a hands-on coding challenge and review the solution with the hiring team.

• Openness to collaborate on a Go coding challenge as part of the interview process.

• A builder mindset and relevant experience; passion for creating zero-to-one products.

• Extensive experience with Go programming.

• Significant background in developing scalable, reliable, and high-performance distributed systems and platforms.

• Proven team leadership and management experience.

• Experience in Linux systems engineering.

• Familiarity with Identity Management, RBAC, ABAC, and zero-trust security models.

• A strong intellectual curiosity and eagerness to master new technologies.

• Commitment to transparency, honesty, and maintaining a no-ego approach.

• Noteworthy contributions to Open Source projects are advantageous.

• Must currently reside in the United States.

• Willingness to travel to Oakland, California for onboarding week and occasionally for team events.

• Comfort with background checks, employment verification, and educational credential verification.

• Must be prepared to undertake a coding challenge that may last up to two weeks.
