Staff Backend Engineer, Host Pricing & Availability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and guide the technical strategy for our pricing and availability backend systems, ensuring that APIs, services, and data pipelines are robust today and can adapt to future business requirements.

• Spearhead the development and enhancement of Airbnb’s essential pricing and availability products.

• Collaborate with product engineers and cross-functional teams to create new host pricing capabilities and calendar management tools.

• Play a key role in shaping the long-term architecture of backend systems within the Host Pricing organization.

• Advocate for engineering excellence by setting architectural standards and mentoring senior engineers to enhance the organization's technical proficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 9 years of engineering experience with a BS/MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.

• Demonstrated success in leading teams, defining technical strategy, and launching impactful product features.

• Proficiency in backend systems within large-scale service-oriented architectures.

• Experience in influencing cross-functional partners and engineering teams effectively.

• Strong judgment in making trade-offs to align short-term business needs with long-term technical quality.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across teams.

• Strong analytical and production debugging skills.
