Staff Backend Engineer – Grafana

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, test, and manage backend services for context ingestion, indexing, retrieval orchestration, API access, source configuration, and system administration.

• Define and construct a scalable multi-tenant SaaS architecture that includes tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, audit logs, background jobs, and dependable service boundaries.

• Develop APIs and service interfaces for AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal applications in order to retrieve context, provenance, confidence signals, and warnings.

• Collaborate across product and infrastructure teams to balance experimentation with long-term reliability.

• Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards.

• Utilize observability tools to analyze system behavior and enhance reliability.

• Influence architecture, service boundaries, storage choices, API contracts, deployment patterns, and engineering practices.

• Assume ownership of AI solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with user workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong experience in developing production-grade, user-facing software systems.

• Ability to address complex engineering challenges and make UI design decisions with minimal oversight.

• Familiarity with AI technologies and frameworks.

• Comfortable releasing prototypes, gathering feedback, and iterating in a pragmatic manner.

• Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and capability to define scope amid uncertainty.

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and GenAI-powered applications.

• Proven history of delivering software into production with active user engagement.

• Exposure to cloud-native environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience employing observability tools to understand and diagnose system behavior.

• Bonus: Familiarity with agent frameworks or multi-agent workflows.

• Bonus: Experience with data platforms like Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, Snowflake, or DataBricks.
