Staff Backend Engineer – Grafana

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and manage backend services for context ingestion, indexing, retrieval orchestration, API access, source configuration, and system administration.

• Define and create a scalable multi-tenant SaaS architecture that includes tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, audit logs, background jobs, and dependable service boundaries.

• Develop APIs and service interfaces for AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal applications to access context, provenance, confidence signals, and warnings.

• Balance rapid experimentation with long-term reliability as the project transitions from prototype to production.

• Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards for effective monitoring.

• Shape architecture, service boundaries, storage options, API contracts, deployment patterns, and engineering methodologies.

• Take ownership of scalable, maintainable AI solutions that align with real user workflows.

• Collaborate effectively across product, infrastructure, and engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong experience in building production-grade, user-facing software systems.

• Familiarity with AI technologies and frameworks.

• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and developing GenAI-powered applications.

• Proven ability to deliver software utilized by end-users in production environments.

• Exposure to cloud-native platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience with observability tools to analyze and troubleshoot system behavior.

• Capability to release prototypes, gather feedback, and iterate effectively.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity, define project scope, and make practical architectural decisions.

• Bonus: Experience with agent frameworks or multi-agent workflows.

• Bonus: Familiarity with data platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, or Databricks.

• Bonus: Experience in developing tools for data engineering.
