Staff Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services utilizing core technologies (Java/Python/SpringBoot/FastAPI/Postgres/Kafka) while collaborating with fellow engineers in squads.

• Collaborate closely with a diverse cross-functional team (Product, Design, Operations, Sales) to create reliable and engaging products.

• Make pragmatic yet sustainable architectural choices, define domain boundaries, and select suitable distributed system patterns.

• Drive the implementation of contemporary engineering practices (TDD, continuous delivery, SRE culture).

• Guide less experienced engineers by producing high-quality code, performing thorough code reviews, and promoting best practices through automated trivial controls.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in backend software development.

• Significant professional experience with Python (Django, FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks).

• Substantial professional experience with Java, preferably utilizing Spring Boot.

• Experience in designing and consuming RESTful APIs.

• Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL); exposure to NoSQL databases is an added advantage.

• Knowledge of unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven development (TDD).

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and contemporary development workflows.

• Profound understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a focus on performance and scalability.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
