This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Provide technical guidance across the team and related teams.
• Address high-scope and intricate backend challenges.
• Oversee extensive, cross-functional backend projects.
• Propel modular backend, service, data, and platform architecture.
• Transition the monolithic and legacy backends towards modular, reusable, and independently operated systems.
• Set standards for APIs, contracts, compatibility, schema evolution, testing, security, performance, observability, operability, and maintainability.
• Create patterns for dependency management, data ownership, eventing, failure isolation, service maturity, and operational documentation.
• Formulate Go service patterns and Kubernetes operational practices; promote Rust adoption where suitable.
• Engage in on-call duties and incident response, serving as a technical escalation resource.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership on roadmap strategies and investment considerations.
• Mentor Senior and Intermediate engineers.
• Champion the adoption of AI-assisted and agentic workflows while ensuring quality, security, privacy, and operational safeguards.
• A proven history of technical leadership across multiple teams or a wide product domain.
• Extensive backend architecture and production experience with complex applications, services, or platforms.
• Experience in modernizing a monolith or legacy backend architecture in a production environment.
• Familiarity with modular architectures such as bounded contexts, package encapsulation, ports and adapters, service extraction, event-driven boundaries, or similar concepts.
• Strong capability to foster alignment through well-articulated written proposals and decision records.
• Ability to balance customer satisfaction, delivery speed, technical integrity, reliability, and long-term platform investment.
• Experience in mentoring engineers and establishing standards through code reviews, documentation, and practical examples.
• Production experience with AI-assisted or agentic engineering workflows.
• Proficiency with Go services and APIs on a large scale.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native operations, encompassing deployment, scaling, observability, rollback, and production readiness.
• Experience with Rust adoption or production responsibility for systems, security, performance, or platform components.
• Knowledge of Ruby/Rails modularization and large-monolith modernization.
• Experience with PostgreSQL scaling, data partitioning, queues, messaging, or distributed systems.
• Background in security-sensitive product or software supply chain engineering.
• Experience across various deployment scenarios including SaaS, single-tenant, self-managed, or air-gapped constraints.
