Staff Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and evaluate APIs for new products, features, and services.

• Maintain and enhance existing systems with a focus on database performance.

• Collaborate with engineers across the technology stack and engage with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry best practices, while encouraging peers to do the same.

• Act as the on-call engineer for approximately one week each month, addressing incoming issues during off-hours.

• Create essential services, data pipelines, business systems, developer operations, and customer-facing features.

• Provide APIs, infrastructure, and scalability for various product initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in production development, particularly in backend/API.

• Proficient in Go, AWS, Docker (ECS), and Postgres (RDS).

• Demonstrated capability in utilizing software quality measures such as unit/integration testing, monitoring, and alerting.

• Experience in managing Docker-based microservice architectures.

• Background in a dynamic startup environment.

• Strong product mindset with an emphasis on user experience.

• Resourcefulness and pragmatism in balancing engineering quality with speed.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and a proven track record of focusing development on critical tasks.

• Preferred: familiarity with ETL and a keen understanding of optimized database performance.
