This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and implement highly scalable backend services that prioritize performance and security.
• Work collaboratively with designers, scientists, and engineers to develop products that address challenges in laboratory settings.
• Contribute to shaping technical and product strategies, including feature selection and implementation choices.
• Maintain high-availability operations through modern reliability methodologies and comprehensive observability.
• Engage in an on-call rotation to ensure service continuity.
• Take part in code reviews to uphold code quality standards.
• Diagnose and resolve performance and security-related issues.
• Promote healthy and sustainable software development practices.
• Enhance the hybrid object/graph multi-tenant data repository for biology and chemistry experiments.
• Develop services that collect real-time sensor data for operator feedback and cloud-based processing.
• Construct a service for the secure distribution and execution of simulation, analysis, and testing code within SLL.
• Collaborate with the Scientific Development team on data storage, retrieval, and search functionalities in SLL.
• Over 8 years of experience in backend development for products and enterprise software.
• At least 6 years of hands-on experience with Cloud or AWS development.
• Proficiency with database technologies, including SQL or NoSQL.
• Experience working in startups or rapidly growing companies.
• Full lifecycle experience in software product development.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker for containerization.
• Preferred: Experience with distributed systems.
• Preferred: Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Preferred: Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern build tools.
• Preferred: Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), containers, and observability practices.
• Experience with backend services using Go, Python, or Rust.
• Proficient in AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes infrastructure.
• Familiarity with GitHub and Travis CI, relevant to the specified technology stack.
• Implementation of continuous integration and agile development methodologies.
• Involvement in an on-call rotation.
