Staff Backend Engineer – Adaptive Telemetry, Databases

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Drive the technical strategy and develop the roadmap.

• Lead the comprehensive delivery of major, cross-functional initiatives.

• Take ownership of architecture, reliability, performance, and costs for essential systems.

• Establish SLOs/SLIs and spearhead incident response efforts.

• Enhance observability, automation, and operational readiness.

• Align stakeholders and eliminate obstacles.

• Mentor and cultivate engineering talent.

• Serve as a representative for engineering both internally and externally.

• Proven track record in delivering large distributed systems.

• Strong instincts in systems design.

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms.

• Ownership of reliability and performance.

• Exceptional coding and design abilities.

• Comfort with AI-assisted development tools.

• Experience with messaging systems and telemetry.

• Ability to influence without formal authority.

• Strong communication skills.
