This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Take ownership of the autonomy software stack for Gather products, encompassing perception, localization, and inventory scanning pipelines that operate on vehicle-mounted embedded computing.
• Contribute to the architectural development of the product autonomy stack as it evolves to accommodate more vehicle types, facility layouts, and customer configurations.
• Document current systems comprehensively.
• Strategize future revisions.
• Lead and contribute to design enhancements and testing processes.
• Address challenges across the autonomy stack.
• Design and implement algorithms that accurately detect, identify, and log inventory locations as forklifts and drones navigate through warehouse aisles under varying lighting conditions, occlusion, and movement.
• Enhance scan accuracy and coverage through algorithmic advancements, improved sensor integration, and closer coordination with machine learning perception models.
• Develop and maintain the software systems responsible for scan triggering, location mapping, and data transfer to the cloud platform.
• Work collaboratively with hardware and field teams to identify and resolve issues in deployed systems, leveraging log data and field observations to drive enhancements.
• Over 7 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years focused on building autonomy, robotics, or perception systems that are deployed on physical hardware in production environments.
• Proficient in C++ and Python, with a background in developing software for embedded or resource-constrained computing platforms.
• Practical experience with computer vision pipelines, including camera-based detection, localization, or tracking in real-world scenarios.
• Experience in building and troubleshooting software on deployed systems, including diagnosis through log data and field iteration.
• Comfortable operating at a Staff level: defining technical direction, making significant architectural decisions, and taking comprehensive ownership of a system.
