Staff Application Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the application layer for the CertifyOS platform.

• Determine the structure of the application layer and ensure the frontend and backend evolve cohesively.

• Lead the technical strategy and influence the engineering culture.

• Establish API contracts that cater to both internal product teams and external enterprise clients.

• Design application patterns for intricate, asynchronous data workflows.

• Manage the performance boundary between the data layer and the product.

• Define the integration of AI capabilities within the application layer.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience developing production full-stack systems, with a proven impact at the Staff or Tech Lead level.

• A history of setting technical direction effectively.

• Demonstrated ability to influence engineering practices across teams without direct authority.

• Experience in leading cross-functional technical initiatives.

• Extensive backend expertise in Java or a similarly strong typed language.

• Proficient in frontend architecture using React and TypeScript.

• Experienced in designing and evolving external-facing APIs for active consumers.

• Well-versed in various API paradigms.

• Experience in building application layers for enterprise B2B products.

• Strong instincts regarding application-layer performance.

• Experience in defining and managing SLOs for user-facing systems.

• Knowledge of integrating observability into application systems.

• Experience in implementing AI capabilities into production application layers.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Familiarity with microfrontend architectures or design system libraries at scale is an advantage.

• Understanding of healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7) or credentialing and enrollment workflows is a plus.

• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) in enterprise product contexts is a plus.
