This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Implement accounting principles and standards in handling complex transactions.
• Generate and assess precise, timely financial reports.
• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Record outgoing investment wires and corporate ACH disbursements in the general ledger.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules, document depreciation, and reconcile related accounts.
• Prepare month-end journal entries for payroll, 401(k), HSA, FSA, and other employee benefits.
• Code corporate credit card transactions and reconcile them with monthly statements.
• Organize reconciliation binders, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor daily cash flow and address ACH returns or wire rejections.
• Facilitate electronic transfers, investment wires, and corporate ACH disbursements.
• Investigate cash transaction statuses and escalate issues to bank representatives.
• Handle Positive Pay exceptions, stop payments, voided checks, ACH exceptions, and wire trace requests.
• Oversee the AP inbox and secure payment approvals from staff and vendors.
• Lead weekly AP disbursement activities and enter authorized invoices.
• Manage vendor tax documentation, bank detail updates, and vendor onboarding requests.
• Oversee donor advised fund contracts, payment schedules, and renewals.
• Prepare AP Positive Pay files, ACH batches, and wire requests.
• Direct annual 1099 reporting.
• Address inquiries from staff and vendors regarding AP invoices and disbursements.
• Assist with interim and year-end audit schedules along with annual tax schedules.
• Prepare analyses and forecasts for the annual budgeting process.
• Facilitate grant disbursement wires and related Positive Pay files.
• Document processes, pinpoint control weaknesses, and suggest corrective changes.
• Identify opportunities for automation.
• Back up physical mail routing and remote check deposits.
• Report directly to the Controller.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience along with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in a non-profit and/or investment organization is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Sage Intacct or a similar web-based accounting system is required.
• Familiarity with Expensify, Ramp, or a similar web-based expense management application is preferred.
• Experience in systems integrations or other technology/process improvement projects is a significant advantage.
• Proven ability to identify and support process or systems enhancements within an accounting or finance function is preferred.
• Strong Excel proficiency is essential.
• Ability to interact effectively with Teams, Office 365, Asana, Box, and Claude Cowork experience is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a professional demeanor.
• A genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for process improvement, coupled with sound accounting judgment.
• Capability to learn and utilize evolving technology and AI tools.
• Experience in a virtual team environment.
• Proficient in working independently and prioritizing competing demands and deadlines.
• Knowledge and passion for leveraging investing to create social or environmental impact.
• Must be able to work from anywhere within the United States with hours aligned to Eastern Standard Time (9–5:30, with some flexibility).
