Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and execute the monthly and quarterly closing processes, which encompass accounts receivable and payable, payroll, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, cash management, bank reconciliations, accruals, and journal entry processing.

• Execute and manage semi-monthly payroll; keep employee records up-to-date; prepare related journal entries; and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.

• Generate and dispatch customer invoices, follow up on outstanding invoices, and engage in discussions regarding overdue invoices and anticipated payments with the Financial Manager.

• Assist with tax and compliance submissions, including sales tax, 1099 reporting, and benefits compliance testing.

• Prepare audit schedules and offer support during audits.

• Document, establish, and uphold accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

• Identify, propose, and implement scalable process enhancements and automation; aid in Finance systems implementations; enhance data quality; and improve the efficiency and predictability of the closing process.

• Compile monthly reporting packages for Management.

• Conduct quantitative and qualitative variance analyses for monthly and quarterly management presentations.

• Provide assistance with customer contract assessments and revenue recognition determinations.

• Manage Ramp, TriNet, Fidelity, and Egencia systems.

• Act as a resource for Finance partners while completing special projects, reports, and analyses assigned by management.

• Report directly to the Finance Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.

• 3-5 years of relevant experience is required, including general ledger responsibilities, accounts payable/accruals, and month-end closing tasks.

• Experience in payroll processing and payroll-related general ledger reconciliations is advantageous.

• In-depth knowledge of GAAP, including ASC 606.

• CPA designation (active or intent to pursue licensure) is preferred but not mandatory.

• Experience in public accounting is desirable but not essential.

• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.

• A strong ambition to grow and achieve success.

• Familiarity with Rillet, Ramp, Box/Dropbox, TriNet, and/or QuickBooks Online is a plus.

• Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations, and analysis of extensive data sets.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up environment.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through in a deadline-oriented setting.

• A mindset geared towards continuous improvement with the ability to differentiate routine processing from issues that necessitate escalation or technical review.
