This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Oversee and maintain SQL Server environments (2012–2022) across both production and non-production systems.
• Conduct advanced performance tuning utilizing execution plans, Query Store, DMVs, and wait statistics.
• Diagnose intricate database issues including locking, blocking, deadlocks, memory grants, TempDB, and I/O bottlenecks.
• Design and uphold backup and recovery strategies, incorporating point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery exercises.
• Implement and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clusters, Log Shipping, Replication, and Change Data Capture.
• Execute SQL Server upgrades, patching, and version migrations with minimal downtime.
• Establish and maintain SQL Server security features including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), encryption, auditing, and role-based access control.
• Automate routine maintenance and monitoring processes using T-SQL, SQL Agent, and PowerShell.
• Provide support for Azure SQL workloads including Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and SQL on Azure VM.
• Lead incident resolution, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term preventive measures.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams on managed production deployments and CI/CD initiatives.
• Perform proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and regular performance health assessments.
• Over 7 years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience in production environments.
• Extensive knowledge of SQL Server architecture and internals, including Buffer Pool, Plan Cache, Transaction Log, and TempDB.
• Advanced skills in query and server-level performance tuning.
• In-depth understanding of Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, Replication, Change Data Capture, and Log Shipping.
• Strong experience in backup, restore, and disaster recovery methodologies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of SQL Server security and compliance measures.
• Proficient in automation and scripting with T-SQL and PowerShell.
• Familiarity with Azure SQL and monitoring tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
