This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the implementation and management of one or more intricate databases.
• Assess the design, development, and delivery or execution of data solutions.
• Create database architectures and prototype concepts through proof of concept.
• Establish standards, design and test plans, code, and module designs.
• Develop, test, debug, and deploy efficient data solutions.
• Assist in planning and engineering the organization’s databases.
• Monitor database performance, scalability, and security aspects.
• Review existing database designs to identify necessary updates and integration requirements.
• Ensure that final solutions align with organizational needs.
• Operate with considerable independence for unreviewed actions or decisions.
• Guide team members in technical competencies.
• 5+ years of experience supporting engineering initiatives in system design and evaluation, solution engineering, software development, or system administration.
• 3+ years of experience with a sophisticated build system.
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring other DBAs on an Oracle-based system.
• Familiarity with Database Schema as Code tools.
• Experience in designing large-scale enterprise solutions.
• Knowledge of database partitioning and microservices.
• Experience conducting code reviews on SQL change sets and collaborating with developers to establish and enforce best practices.
• Hands-on or working knowledge of Process Playbook is desirable but not mandatory.
• Previous experience with federal or VA.gov digital services is highly preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a US Government Public Trust Security Clearance.
• Experience in analyzing and optimizing queries for enhanced performance.
• Familiarity with Liquibase source control tools.
• Exposure to security scanning tools, configuring their use, and collaborating with teams to address vulnerabilities.
• Experience with ETL and data warehousing techniques.
• Proficient in the installation, maintenance, and administration of PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or other non-Oracle RDBMS variants.
