Spanish-English Interpreter/Translator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Deliver precise, real-time consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation during phone conversations between English- and Spanish-speaking individuals.

• Translate written materials, forms, and correspondence from English to Spanish and vice versa.

• Uphold strict confidentiality regarding client, case, and personal information.

• Provide neutral, professional interpretation in a trauma-informed manner during delicate discussions involving families and children.

• Accurately reflect tone, intent, and cultural context without adding, omitting, or altering the original content.

• Ensure reliable availability for both scheduled and on-demand interpretation sessions.

• Record session date, time, and duration for billing and quality tracking purposes.

• Coordinate with scheduling staff about availability, conflicts, and technical issues.

• Adhere to professional interpreter ethics standards, including accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English, both verbally and in writing.

• At least one year of professional experience in interpretation and/or translation.

• Current interpreter certification is required: CMI, Certified Court Interpreter, NBCMI, CCHI, or equivalent state/federal certification.

• Reliable high-speed internet connection is a must.

• Possess a computer or smartphone along with a headset suitable for remote interpretation.

• Capability to pass a background screening as mandated by client contracts.

• Ability to maintain composure during emotionally charged conversations.

• Capacity to work independently while managing a flexible, part-time schedule.

• Preferred: experience in social services, child welfare, immigration, healthcare, or legal environments.

• Preferred: experience working with vulnerable populations, including families and minors.

• Preferred: availability for scheduled sessions as well as short-notice on-demand requests.
