Solutions Engineer – R&D Mission Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist with technical demonstrations, research and development events, solution presentations, and engagements focused on mission objectives.

• Collaborate with R&D engineers and technical leadership to comprehend platform capabilities and convey them effectively to stakeholders.

• Convert feedback from customers, users, or mission-related inputs into actionable technical specifications for the R&D team.

• Help align operational requirements with the implementation of software/platform solutions.

• Aid in the technical implementation, configuration, integration, and validation of prototype functionalities.

• Engage in the build, demonstration, feedback, and iteration processes for new R&D solutions.

• Clarify technical concepts, system functionalities, and solution trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Gather stakeholder feedback and assist in prioritizing improvements, enhancements, or subsequent development efforts.

• Work alongside engineers to test, troubleshoot, and enhance software capabilities in cloud-native or containerized environments.

• Support documentation efforts, demo preparations, technical briefings, and summaries of post-event feedback.

• Represent Rackner’s technical initiatives in collaborative environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract stipulations.

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

• A background in solutions engineering, software development, systems engineering, platform engineering, DevSecOps, or a related technical field.

• Proven experience working with engineering teams to deliver software, cloud, infrastructure, or platform capabilities.

• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Proficient in gathering user, customer, or stakeholder needs and transforming feedback into actionable requirements.

• Familiarity with APIs, cloud services, containers, DevSecOps methodologies, and contemporary software delivery practices.

• Capacity to work independently in ambiguous, prototype-driven, or fast-paced environments.

• Willingness to travel approximately 15% for R&D events, demonstrations, collaboration sessions, or mission-related activities.

• Preferred: Active Secret clearance or higher.

• Preferred: Experience supporting DoD, Air Force, Platform One, Big Bang, mission planning, C2, ISR, autonomy, or defense software projects.

• Preferred: Involvement in demonstrations, pilots, field events, customer interactions, technical briefings, or live exercises.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating with operators, mission users, customers, or cross-functional stakeholders.

• Preferred: Proficiency in programming languages and technologies such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Go, FastAPI, Postgres, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, or CI/CD tools.

• Preferred: Knowledge of solution integration, prototype validation, platform configuration, or implementation tasks.

• Preferred: Ability to produce documentation, demo materials, solution briefs, and stakeholder feedback summaries.

• Preferred: Exposure to AI-enabled systems, LLMs, automation-focused software, data-driven tools, or technologies related to autonomy.

• Preferred: Familiarity with secure delivery practices, observability, infrastructure-as-code, and compliance-driven engineering methodologies.
