Solutions Architect – Data Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete architecture, design, and implementation of modern cloud data and analytics solutions for enterprise clients across various sectors.

• Convert business needs into technical solutions and data platform designs that adhere to phData methodologies, standards, and best practices.

• Ensure that projects are completed on schedule, within defined scope, and deliver measurable business benefits for clients.

• Design secure, scalable, and efficient data pipelines and integration strategies using advanced cloud data platforms and tools.

• Guide implementation teams through design choices, trade-offs, and best practices throughout the entire solution lifecycle.

• Collaborate with various teams, including data engineering, analytics, machine learning, cloud platforms, sales, and PMO, to ensure successful client engagements.

• Provide both technical and strategic guidance during workshops, discovery sessions, design evaluations, and project execution.

• Maintain high-quality deliverables through architecture assessments, code evaluations, documentation, testing, and governance practices.

• Work alongside practice and account leaders to pinpoint opportunities for engagement expansion, delivery enhancement, and the standardization of reusable solution patterns.

• Assist in pre-sales efforts, including project scoping, solution design, and presenting technical strategies to client stakeholders.

• Contribute to internal projects such as intellectual property development, accelerators, reference architectures, templates, playbooks, training, and mentoring.

• Represent phData professionally in all engagements, effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Share insights and best practices throughout the organization to enhance delivery quality and efficiency continuously.

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, shaping strategic roadmaps, influencing decisions, and guiding long-term initiatives.

• Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture focused on learning, feedback, and continuous improvement.

• Assist in defining and refining practice standards, reusable assets, and delivery frameworks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in solutions architecture and/or data engineering, focusing on designing and implementing data solutions and modern cloud data platforms.

• Practical expertise with core cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Databricks, and GCP.

• Proficient programming skills in Java, Python, and/or Scala.

• Advanced SQL capabilities, encompassing writing, debugging, and optimizing complex queries.

• Experience with cloud and distributed data storage solutions like S3, ADLS, HDFS, GCS, Kudu, Elasticsearch/Solr, Cassandra, or other NoSQL storage systems.

• Familiarity with data integration technologies including Spark, Kafka, event/streaming platforms, Streamsets, Matillion, Fivetran, NiFi, AWS Data Migration Services, Azure Data Factory, Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS), Google DataProc, or similar tools.

• Experience working with diverse data sources such as queues, relational databases, files, search, and APIs.

• Comprehensive experience across the entire software development lifecycle, including design, documentation, implementation, testing, and deployment.

• Proficiency in automated data transformation and curation using tools like dbt, Spark, Spark Streaming, and automated data pipelines.

• Experience with workflow management and orchestration tools such as Airflow, AWS Managed Airflow, Luigi, or NiFi.

• Ability to create detailed solution documentation, including POCs, roadmaps, sequence diagrams, class hierarchies, and logical system views.

• Capability to develop end-to-end technical solutions in production, ensuring performance, security, scalability, and robust data integration.

• Proven experience delivering projects for external or internal clients in a professional services or consulting context.

• Skill in breaking down complex problems into structured, actionable tasks and driving them to completion.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to create and deliver detailed presentations for both technical and business audiences.

• Demonstrated effectiveness in collaborating with distributed and cross-functional teams.

• Track record of taking ownership, managing multiple priorities, and delivering high-quality work with minimal guidance.

• Experience leading teams and/or mentoring other engineers within a project or practice environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
