Software Tester

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Evaluate business and technical requirements along with design documents to create manual test cases and automated test scripts.

• Conduct manual functional, regression, integration, and system testing; document outcomes and log defects.

• Develop, create, and sustain automated test suites using Selenium and Playwright for UI and/or API testing.

• Design and uphold test frameworks and scripts for applications built on Java.

• Run automated test suites in CI/CD pipelines, analyze outcomes, triage failures, and report issues.

• Perform load and performance testing while contributing to performance analysis and reporting.

• Track defects until resolution and work collaboratively with developers to reproduce and fix issues.

• Deploy software to testing environments, monitor application and server logs, and pinpoint errors or unexpected behaviors.

• Engage in peer reviews of test cases and test scripts.

• Assist the Test Lead with release test plans, maintain the Requirements Traceability Matrix, manage the regression test suite, and prepare test summary reports.

• Facilitate internal quality assurance checks for deliverables.

• Collaborate with business analysts and developers on business, functional, and technical specifications.

• Take part in SAFe/Agile ceremonies and promote continuous improvement.

• Support testing of integrated solutions that involve Pentaho, Liferay, and PowerApps when applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; an additional 4 years of relevant experience can substitute for a degree.

• Over 2 years of total IT experience.

• At least 2 years of experience as a Software Test Engineer or in a comparable role.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust, necessitating U.S. Citizenship.

• Proficient in both manual and automated testing methodologies.

• Solid understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and various testing methodologies.

• Ability to assess complex requirements/designs and generate detailed test cases and scripts.

• Experience in executing test cases, documenting results, identifying defects, and generating test reports.

• Practical experience in creating and maintaining automated tests using Selenium.

• Practical experience in creating and maintaining automated tests using Playwright, or the ability to quickly adapt.

• Experience in testing or working with Java-based applications.

• Familiarity with GitHub repositories, including branching, pull requests, and basic CI/CD workflows.

• Experience with configuration management and version control tools like the Atlassian suite, JIRA, and/or Subversion (SVN).

• Basic knowledge of SQL for data validation and backend testing purposes.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.

• Strong organizational, presentation, and business analysis capabilities.

• Preferred: exposure to Pentaho, Liferay, Microsoft PowerApps, SAFe or other Agile methodologies, and technical documentation/user manuals.
