Software Quality Assurance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee comprehensive testing initiatives throughout sprint cycles, encompassing functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.

• Collaborate with Client Services, Data, and Technology teams to comprehend and refine functional software requirements for verifiability.

• Develop detailed test plans and test cases based on product requirements and technical specifications.

• Establish and uphold automated regression test suites for Catalist software products.

• Create and maintain documentation related to testing processes.

• Offer insights on software product quality to facilitate production releases.

• Identify, document, prioritize, and monitor bugs using project management tools such as Jira.

• Work closely with development teams to ensure swift bug resolutions.

• Modify work schedule for occasional evenings and weekends as workload necessitates.

• Operate independently and actively seek thorough bug identification.

• Report directly to the Director of Tools Support & Integrations.

• Collaborate extensively with Client Services, Data, and Technology teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years in test automation and quality assurance for JVM and/or web-based software products.

• Proficient in web application testing as well as web-based API testing.

• Experience with at least one RDBMS, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server.

• Practical experience in developing test automation scripts for web applications, Java applications, and REST APIs.

• Proficient in Python scripting and coding.

• Strong expertise with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or WebdriverIO.

• Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured.

• Ability to write automation test code for functional testing of JVM applications.

• Solid understanding of Java and JVM application architecture, including build and deployment processes.

• Experience in testing across multiple browsers and platforms, including Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.

• Familiarity with validation, regression, and smoke testing lower in the application stack.

• Adequate SQL skills to directly query databases and set up test scenarios.

• Proven ability to organize and create test cases and plans, demonstrate coverage, and monitor progress and project health.

• Background check required.

• Preferred: Knowledge of AWS, GCP, Docker, columnar or NoSQL databases, cloud-based performance testing tools, modern web application architecture, React, Jenkins or Bamboo, and Red Hat/CentOS Linux platforms.
