Software Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Acts as the technical leader for the cross-functional team that supports SunStrong’s consumer applications, which includes engineering, QA, and product.

• Guides a team of software engineers by offering mentorship, advice, and support to enhance their professional growth and development.

• Contributes to the overall team velocity as a hands-on leader by writing code.

• Conducts code reviews and provides mentorship to enhance the application's health and the team's skill set.

• Offers architectural planning and insights for application development.

• Facilitates Agile sprint ceremonies such as daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

• Recognizes, implements, and advocates for opportunities to enhance team delivery through the use of AI tools and methodologies.

• Promotes best practices, coding standards, and software development methodologies to uphold a high-quality codebase.

• Efficiently manages and allocates resources to meet project deadlines and organizational goals.

• Fosters a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5+ years of software development experience, including prior experience in a leadership position.

• In-depth knowledge of JavaScript frameworks, such as NextJS, Node, and React.

• Proficient in mobile development frameworks, particularly React Native for both iOS and Android (experience with Expo is a plus).

• Familiarity with Postgres and MySQL.

• Experience in API development, with a thorough understanding of API contracts and integration testing.

• Proven ability to effectively utilize AI tools to enhance app quality and delivery.

• Experience with Salesforce is highly desirable.

• Knowledge of AWS Cognito authentication and an understanding of security patterns and best practices concerning user data.

• Experience in implementing high test coverage with unit tests in both new and existing application repositories.

• Experience in scaffolding cloud deployments in AWS for containerized applications, with a preference for using Elastic Beanstalk and Docker.

• Familiar with GitHub Actions and Git administration to support automated testing and deployments.

• Capability to triage and manage production incidents, emphasizing clear communication with business partners.

• Ability to convert requirements into technical specifications for feature development.

• Experience in facilitating one-on-ones with team members.
