This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Lead cross-functional delivery teams consisting of 4–5 engineers, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering.
• Ensure the team consistently delivers high-quality work, fosters professional growth, and prevents bottlenecks as LawnStarter expands.
• Take ownership of personnel development by creating detailed growth plans for each individual contributor.
• Maintain delivery rhythm and predictable quality by identifying risks early, managing scope, and fulfilling commitments.
• Tackle team conflicts head-on and manage underperformance using a transparent process.
• Protect and nurture top talent within the team.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to make informed decisions and prevent delivery delays.
• Offer technical guidance on system design and architectural risks without becoming excessively hands-on.
• Implement AI tools and workflows for code review, documentation, sprint planning, and debugging processes.
• Cultivate leadership capabilities, manage distributed teams across different time zones, enhance delivery consistency, coordinate roadmap-to-release processes, and boost AI-enabled productivity.
• Extensive, hands-on experience with AI workflows, including tools like Claude, Claude Code, Copilot, or AI-assisted review.
• Proven track record in building prompts, expediting code reviews, enhancing ticket quality, or leading AI integration in development workflows.
• Solid experience in developing career growth plans and navigating challenging performance discussions through a structured approach.
• Background in leading fully remote teams as the standard operational model.
• Capacity to build trust, facilitate asynchronous decision-making, and support engineers across distributed locations.
• Experience in direct and prompt conflict resolution.
• Ability to leverage metrics such as velocity, retention risk, and individual-contributor growth for decision-making.
• Technical credibility demonstrated through code reviews, architectural insights, and debugging assistance.
• Competency in delegating tasks, coaching engineers towards decisions, and preventing bottlenecks.
• Dedication to people leadership as a core competency.
• Emphasis on proactive risk management rather than reactive problem-solving.
• Salary: $120,000–$140,000 USD per year (contractor), based on experience.
