This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and implement authentication and authorization systems for users, agents, and services, encompassing credential scoping, SSO, SCIM provisioning, and detailed permission models.
• Advance Render's authorization framework to establish clear permissions and scopes for applications, environments, projects, and other platform resources.
• Take ownership of the security experience throughout the entire stack, from the interfaces used to manage features to the APIs, data models, and underlying systems.
• Develop the controls and audit trails that customers utilize to define, enforce, and comprehend the actions of people, services, and agents within their systems.
• Design shared authentication APIs and primitives, and collaborate closely with Product, Design, Security, and other Render teams to promote their adoption.
• Manage authentication and authorization systems that customers and various teams rely on, ensuring observability, safe rollouts, incident response, and on-call support.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in shipping and managing production systems.
• Experience in building customer-facing authentication or authorization features, with an understanding of how security decisions influence the product experience.
• Proven ability to design and operate systems where correctness, availability, and safe rollout are critical, and comfort in navigating API, data-model, caching, and migration trade-offs.
• Ability to balance security and product trade-offs, comprehending the reasons behind existing controls, the friction they introduce, and when a simpler design suffices.
• A history of successfully guiding ambiguous projects from design to production while collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams across the organization.
