Software Engineer – Team Lead, Forward Deployed

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee Value Creation Projects (3-6 months): Spearhead the deployment and integration of solutions for designated business units, addressing significant challenges such as re-platforming or developing innovative features.

• Manage Applications Projects (Long-term): Design and maintain applications centered around Volaris that deliver sustained value, including continuous support, roadmaps, and feature enhancements.

• Supervise and mentor a team of up to 6 members across various projects and assignments.

• Create and implement complex custom components, APIs, and data pipelines tailored to client requirements.

• Troubleshoot and optimize intricate systems across both cloud and on-premises infrastructures.

• Collaborate directly with technical teams from business units to design scalable solutions.

• Participate in hiring interviews and contribute to talent acquisition efforts.

• Offer career coaching, performance evaluations, and professional growth opportunities for team members.

• Act as a liaison between our product team and end users, shaping the roadmap based on field insights.

• Facilitate technical discussions and architectural decisions across multiple initiatives.

• Occasionally travel to client locations (as needed) for deployment or design sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering (Python, TypeScript, Java, .NET, or similar).

• 2+ years of experience in managing and developing engineering teams.

• Extensive experience working with APIs, data pipelines, and distributed systems.

• Full-stack mindset: Demonstrated ability to operate across frontend, backend, and infrastructure with AI support.

• Proficiency with AI tools: Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and methodologies.

• Established track record of mentoring and cultivating both junior and senior engineers.

• Experience in hiring, performance management, and fostering career development.

• Comfortable collaborating directly with customer engineering or operations teams.

• Strong leadership capabilities, demonstrating the ability to lead by example.

• Exceptional communication and influencing skills.

• Ability to excel in ambiguous, high-impact environments.
