Software Engineer – Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete delivery process by designing, developing, testing, and deploying full-stack features.

• Participate in technical design discussions, architectural choices, and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.

• Implement software development best practices, maintain a disciplined approach to testing, and conduct meaningful code reviews.

• Utilize AI-powered coding tools and workflows to enhance the pace of development.

• Assist in the continuous deployment and monitoring of production systems.

• Work collaboratively with stakeholders from various departments and partner with Product Management to define, design, and implement user features.

• Contribute to the collective technical knowledge within the engineering team.

• Produce clear, comprehensive, and accessible technical documentation for systems, workflows, and code modifications.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Over 4 years of professional full-stack experience in building and maintaining web applications.

• Strong comprehension of software design patterns and principles of clean architecture.

• Significant frontend experience with React and responsive web applications.

• Backend experience involving server-side code, data models/databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), and GraphQL and REST APIs.

• Familiarity with AI developer tools and agentic workflows such as Copilot, Claude, or Cursor, along with strong prompting skills.

• Knowledge of automated testing frameworks, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Capability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with Agile development methodologies.

• Ruby and Ruby on Rails experience is preferred but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with AWS, Heroku, and DevOps concepts is an advantage.

• Experience in civic technology, public sector software, or platforms related to strategic planning and performance management is a plus.

• Experience in building accessible web applications is an added benefit.

• Experience in a distributed, remote team environment is a plus.
