Software Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Choose tasks from a curated selection of validated Python repositories linked to specific git commits.

• Investigate repositories along with pertinent pull request or issue history to comprehend the subsystem.

• Reformulate engineering inquiries to effectively challenge cutting-edge coding agents while maintaining clarity.

• Modify rubrics and distractors to incentivize correct reasoning and eliminate plausible yet incorrect responses.

• Execute the Check, Golden, Run, and Analyze validation loop within Mercor Studio.

• Continue iterating until all validation phases are successfully completed.

• Document the process in the task README.

• Submit tasks for expert evaluation and respond to any reviewer comments.

• Create datasets for AI agents to analyze authentic Python codebases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Significant hands-on experience with Python in production environments.

• Capability to navigate extensive, unfamiliar Python codebases and articulate runtime behavior.

• Proficiency in Python internals, which includes import mechanics, descriptors and metaclasses, async and event loops, packaging, and C-extension boundaries.

• Experience with web frameworks, developer tools, type checkers, or scientific/numeric libraries is highly advantageous.

• Excellent command of written English.

• Comfortable with git at the commit level, containerized environments, and command-line tools.

• Identity verification and background check are required.

• Signing of Terms of Work and CIIAA is mandatory.

• Completion of tax forms is necessary.

• Passing a brief calibration quiz is required before gaining task access.

• Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a short technical assessment or provide further details.
