Software Engineer, P2P – Search Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Construct a cutting-edge stack for resilient, decentralized peer-to-peer search.

• Create a genuinely peer-to-peer architecture devoid of a centralized index.

• Facilitate self-organizing, unstoppable search engines for text, images, chats, locations, and various data types.

• Investigate and develop distributed search technologies.

• Produce high-performance, highly concurrent networking code.

• Assess, test, and enhance network protocols.

• Contribute to the architecture, indexing, and ranking systems of search engines.

⛳️ Requirements

• A strong passion for peer-to-peer technology.

• An interest in research with a focus on implementation.

• A thorough understanding of Kademlia DHT and related concepts.

• Familiarity with distributed indexing and pertinent research literature, including skip graphs, prefix hash trees, m-LIGHT, and locality-sensitive hashing.

• Experience with distributed databases and Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs).

• Knowledge of peer-to-peer networking, encompassing TCP/IP, transport-layer connection orientation, reliability models, multiplexing, NAT traversal, and encryption techniques.

• Understanding of classical information retrieval and search engine architecture, including the trade-off between recall and precision, ranking algorithms, lexical versus semantic search, and inverted indices.

• Proven experience in network protocol testing, evaluation, and optimization.

• Capability to write high-performance, highly concurrent networking code.

• Familiarity with the Holepunch stack: hyperdht, hyperswarm, hypercore, hyperbee, hyperdrive, and udx-native.

• Excellent proficiency in English communication.
