Software Engineer, Networking – Edge

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Leverage extensive knowledge in network engineering combined with software development and SRE/DevOps expertise to architect, build, and manage Tailscale’s global Funnel and DERP relay infrastructure.

• Foster operational excellence and automation to ensure the scalability, high availability, and performance of our hosted services.

• Provide architectural advice and resolve escalated networking issues for clients to tackle complex connectivity challenges.

• Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to enhance hosted services and client offerings, ensuring updates deliver significant value to our customer base.

• Contribute to the open-source client code and develop the Tailscale product dataplane to bolster network connectivity capabilities and features.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in networking software development and troubleshooting.

• In-depth knowledge of core networking concepts, including VPNs, NAT traversal, routing, and IP addressing.

• Familiarity with distributed systems, managing global-scale services, and implementing SRE & DevOps practices.

• Most systems are developed using the Go programming language; experience with Go is highly preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal skills for providing constructive feedback and the ability to work independently.

• Flexibility to succeed in a dynamic startup environment.

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
